UNILAG Registrar Recruitment
NB: The University of Lagos (UNILAG) invites applications for the position of Registrar, which will become vacant on Saturday, 1st February 2025.
Role and Responsibilities of the Registrar
The Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the university.
This role involves responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the university, excluding financial matters handled by the Bursar.
The Registrar also serves as the Secretary to the University Council, Senate, Convocation, and Congregation.
The ideal candidate will have strong academic distinction, managerial ability, and integrity.
The role demands dynamic leadership and the ability to build strong relationships within the university community.
Candidates must be team players with a clear vision of a 21st-century university registry.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A good Honour’s degree and an NYSC discharge certificate or evidence of exemption.
- A higher degree and membership in a recognised professional body are added advantages.
- At least 15 years of post-qualification administrative experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a senior management position within a university or comparable institution.
Candidates must be under 60 years of age by 1st February 2025.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to sustaining and improving the university’s development vision.
Terms of Appointment
The successful candidate will serve for a term of five years.
An additional year may be granted subject to satisfactory performance, as determined by the University’s Governing Council.

Vision Statement
Applicants must provide a vision statement of not more than 1,000 words outlining their goals for the Registry over the next five years.
