Job Description

The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for coordinating the security architecture of LASUED.

This includes handling security matters within the student environment.

The role involves recommending the recruitment and discipline of security officers.

Supervising and managing all security personnel is essential.

The Chief Security Officer must liaise with security agencies and law enforcement to protect lives and properties on both campuses.

Coordinating intelligence gathering within and outside university premises is required.

Engagement with security personnel in host communities is necessary to ensure the university’s safety.

The role includes formulating security policies for the university’s management.

Ensuring adequate security measures are in place to mitigate potential threats is a key responsibility.

The Chief Security Officer will also develop and enhance the university’s security strategies.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold an Honours degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences, not below Second Class Lower Division from a reputable university.

A Higher National Diploma (HND) in related disciplines, not below the grade of Lower Credit, is also acceptable.

A Master’s degree in any of these disciplines is an added advantage.

Ten years of cognate experience is required, with at least three years at the level of Assistant Chief Security Officer.

Candidates who are ex-servicemen should hold a rank not below Chief Superintendent of Police or its equivalent in the Armed Forces.

Applicants must possess strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and intelligence-gathering skills.

High moral standards, integrity, and ethical conduct are essential.

Knowledge of ICT and evidence of its use are required.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

The position of Chief Security Officer is remunerated under the Consolidated University Non-Academic Salary Structure 14 (CONUNASS 14).

Other benefits will be provided as per the University’s Senior Staff Conditions of Service.

Interested applicants should submit twenty copies each of their applications, Curriculum Vitae (CV), and credentials to the Office of the Registrar, Lagos State University of Education, by 4:00 pm, Tuesday, 10th September, 2024.

The CV must follow the university’s specified format.

Candidates must also forward three references from their referees to the Office of the Registrar by the same deadline.
